WAJIR Governor Ahmed Abdullahi on Tuesday reshuffled his chief officers in a move he said was aimed at improving services.

In a letter seen by the Star, which was signed by county secretary Hillow Mumin and copied to the governor and his deputy Ahmed Muhumed, the governor moved Omar Ahmed from the livestock and veterinary services department to agriculture and irrigation services.

Mohamed Kahiye was moved from public health and sanitation to livestock development, while Fardosa Bishar was transferred from the energy, mining and natural resources to medical services.

Yahya Dahiye was moved from water to accounting services, pending bills resolution, revenue and resource mobilisation, while Mohamed Abdullahi was moved from medical services to environment, climate change, energy mining and natural resources.

Rukia Maalim was moved from the executive office of the governor to public health and sanitation.

“To ensure a smooth transition and uninterrupted services, the officers are required to complete the handing over exercise by April 11,” the letter reads.

Speaking at the weekend, while hinting at making possible changes, the governor told his officers effective delivery of services to residents should not be compromised.

He reminded them of the oath they took while being sworn in and emphasised upholding integrity and discipline.

“Each one of you, be it a CEC, a chief officer or director, you have your job cut out. You know what is required of you at all times. You should remain professional and adhere to set standards,” Abdullahi said.

The governor recently singled out the health, water, education, infrastructure, livestock and agriculture sectors as areas his administration has helped improve, promising to do more.

Abdullahi, who rode to victory with a promise of restoring hope, told county employees to carry out their duties with utmost dedication. He said his administration will not entertain laziness, incompetence and corruption.

The Council of Governors chairperson said his administration’s success or failure is pegged on how the county employees perform their respective duties.

“I am keen on not only leaving behind a rich legacy but also delivering on the promises I made. This will only be achieved through the full support of all county employees from top to bottom,” he said.
