MCA Domnic Maitha has reportedly gone missing.
Maitha,
according to his close relatives, reported to work at the Machakos County
Assembly on Monday, March 24, but never returned home.
His
wife Juliet Ngare accompanied by his father John Maitha, are among the close
relatives who reported his missing at the Machakos police station on Tuesday.
The
Star established that the missing person report was made under OB NO:
49/25/3/25 at 3.04 pm on Tuesday.
The
legislator’s phones, according to police sources, have been switched off as his
whereabouts remain unknown.
His
disappearance has led to an uproar in the county with relatives, his supporters and
some political leaders demanding that relevant authorities help find him
soon.
“My
husband left the house for Machakos County Assembly at around 7.00 am on
Monday. He passed through our rural home in Kaloleni within Machakos sub county
on his way to the county assembly, but never returned home,” Ngare told
reporters outside Machakos police station on Tuesday.
Ngare
said the husband had told her that he would spend the Monday night in their
Kaloleni home (village) to enable him to report to work early Tuesday.
She
said the MCA was at the assembly the whole of Monday, and they talked on the phone the same evening.
Ngare
said she last talked with her husband on the phone at around 10:30 pm on Monday.
“He
was still within Machakos, hadn’t left, but assured me he would spend the night
in the village. In the morning, at around 9:00 am, I called to check on him, but
all his phones were off. After a few minutes, an MCA, one of his colleagues,
called me saying they were looking for him via all his mobile phone numbers
they have in vain.
“I
sent them one of his other phone numbers, telling him I had tried calling it
among his other lines, but they were all switched off,” Ngare said.
Ngare
said she later called their relatives in the village but was told that her
husband never spent the night at home.
“We
are still calling his lines, but they are all off. We have reported the matter
to the police,” Ngare said.
She
said it was strange for the MCA to be unreachable in all his mobile phones. He
has three handsets.
“This
is strange since he has three mobile phones which can’t get off charge at once.
He calls back whenever he gets my missed call. I have been calling him since 9:00 am today in vain,” she said.
Ngare
said her husband had never been offline for more than an hour.
The
MCA’s father John Maitha confirmed that his son passed through his home on
Monday while on his way to work and promised to return and spend the night, but
never returned.
“I
was with him, and he told me he was going to work at the Machakos County
Assembly. This morning, I received information that he hadn’t gotten to work
and was being looked for. Where has he gone?” John poised.
“Those
who know where he is to return my child. He had told me he would spend the
night at home, but he didn’t come. Release him to come home,” he said.
