Mining and Blue Economy CS Hassan Joho has said the expanded government has included Kenyans who deserve to be there.

Joho said representation is critical for the peace of the country. “In fact we have to say we want to see more representation. Everybody deserves to be represented,” the CS said.

He spoke at the Tononoka Ground in Mombasa where he joined Muslims in Eid-ul-Fitr prayers. President William Ruto recently created more state departments by appointing more Principal Secretaries into his administration.

This has raised questions of the ballooning wage bill as Kenyans buckle under the tax pressure. But Joho said for far too long, the politics of Kenya has fostered exclusion and President Ruto has reversed this and introduced a paradigm shift that is making all feel included.

“I feel encouraged that we now have a broader conversation. For far too long the politics of our country has been rst-past-the-post. If you pass the post, it’s done. The rest that remains behind have no say, no meaning and no contribution in whatever way in their own government,” Joho said.

“That is what we want to change. So that everybody has a say in the government."

The broad-based government will unite Kenyans as it is meant to do, he added, urging citizens to guard the country jealously as there is “only one Kenya”.

“All of us should embrace it so that we do not have politics of fierce do-or-die competition.”

The CS asked juvenile gangsters to re-evaluate their life choices and use their youthfulness in a positive manner that will help them in their sunset days.

“Before you sleep every night, take some time to reflect on your actions that day. Are they of benefit to you here on earth and in heaven?” Joho posed on Sunday.

“If you don’t use your youthful energy well, you will regret it later in life.”

His sentiments come amid rising insecurity in Mombasa and Kwale counties where juvenile gangs wreak havoc with reckless abandon.
