A multi-agency security team has arrested a woman in Moyale
with cocaine valued at Sh1.6 million hidden in her private parts.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the 45-year-old woman was arrested at the Odda roadblock.
The suspected drug peddler was a passenger in a
Marsabit-bound Toyota Probox.
“While her fellow passengers complied with the officers’
checks, the woman threw a tantrum, refusing to be searched. Her defiance raised
red flags, and Moyale detectives swooped in, escorting her to Moyale Sub-County
Referral Hospital for a closer look,” DCI said.
DCI noted that with the help of medical professionals,
authorities discovered the woman was concealing eight pellets of cocaine,
weighing 414 grams, hidden in her private parts.
The seized cocaine has been safely locked as an exhibit, while
the woman is being detained at Moyale Police Station, awaiting her day in
court.
On March 29, detectives from DCI arrested three suspected
drug traffickers in Maji Mazuri, Mwiki, Nairobi County and recovered a large
consignment of bhang.
The officers, drawn from the Anti-Narcotics Unit and
Operations Action Team, apprehended the main suspect, a 38-year-old woman, at
her residence after acting on a tip-off from members of the public.
After some grilling, the woman led the detectives to two of
her associates.
“Further interrogation yielded crucial information, leading
to the arrest of two additional suspects, a 43-year-old woman and a 32-year-old
man,” said the DCI.
The trio was escorted to Muthaiga Police Station, while the
confiscated drugs were taken to DCI headquarters for safe custody as exhibits.
On Thursday, April 17, police in Nairobi arrested two men
with 40 kilogrammes of bhang in an operation within the Karen area.
Also recovered from the suspects were 203 rolls of bhang,
100 packets of razzlers, Sh1,400 in cash and one rolling flag.
Officers impounded a motorcycle that they believe the suspects have been using to carry out the illegal business.
