Detectives are investigating an incident where a police officer attached to the Presidential Escort unit collapsed and died while boarding a car in Karen, Nairobi.

Prescot, as it is known, takes care of the president and his family.

Police said Sergeant Daniel Kipruto Kangogo was about to board an official four-wheel drive car when he collapsed and died.

He was rushed to the Karen Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, his colleagues said.

The deceased was in the company of other colleagues at the site when the incident happened.

The team was on other assignments in the area at the time of the incident on Tuesday, April 22, at about 3 pm.

The cause of the death is yet to be established.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other procedures.

Meanwhile, detectives in Masinga, Machakos county, are investigating the source of an undetonated bomb that was discovered in a village.

The explosive was found in Kaseve area by villagers who called the police on April 21.

Police said a team of experts rushed to the scene and secured it ahead of a planned safe detonation.

The team is also investigating the source of the explosive device.

It was later safely detonated in an isolated area.

Elsewhere, police are investigating three cases of suicide reported to them.

The first incident happened in Akila area, where a 21-year-old man was found dead after he hanged himself.

Police said Collins Macharia died by suicide after hanging himself using a sisal rope tied around his neck on the metal bars of the bathroom window.

The motive of the incident is yet to be known.

In Wajir, one Ugas Ibrahim Mohamed, 40, died by suicide by hanging himself with a sisal rope tied around his neck from a tree.

Police officers arrived at the scene and confirmed the incident, but no suicide note was found.

The body was moved to the Wajir Referral Hospital morgue for an autopsy and burial arrangements per Islamic rites.

In Lari, Kiambu county, a six-year-old boy was found dead after a suspected suicide.

Residents and police said he died by suicide by hanging himself from a clothesline post outside their home.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending investigations, police said.

Police said they want to understand if it is true that the boy died by suicide and what motivated him.
