A suspected notorious criminal linked to a series of violent crimes in Nairobi was arrested on Tuesday following a dramatic police chase from Majengo to Eastleigh.
In a statement, the National Police Service (NPS) said the suspect was arrested after officers on routine patrol spotted him along Lamu Road in Majengo.
Police said the suspect fled on foot upon noticing the officers, prompting a chase through the densely populated neighbourhoods towards the California area.
The pursuit ended at the Madina Mall Roundabout in Eastleigh, where officers cornered and arrested him.
A search conducted during the arrest led to the recovery of a homemade firearm and a knife.
According to police, preliminary investigations show the suspect is well known within Shauri Moyo and is believed to have been involved in a string of violent crimes in the area.
Authorities linked him to previous incidents involving stabbings and phone snatching targeting members of the public.
