    Between January and March 2025, Kenya witnessed a disturbing femicide crisis, with 129 women killed.

    In January, 43 women were killed, followed by 42 in February, and 44 in March.

    Rift Valley, Eastern, and Western regions recorded the highest deaths.

    Men were responsible for 85% of the killings, while women accounted for 10%. Most perpetrators were known to the victims, and 50% of the killings were linked to domestic matters.

    In 2024, 579 femicide cases were reported.

    The data is according to the National Police Service and National Crime Research Centre.
