A young woman

Thinking around the day I got pushed out from another dimension to this one mostly leaves me blank. August 14th has always been just another normal day to me, despite it being my birthday.

Probably because I never see a reason to celebrate it or maybe I wasn’t raised up to actually celebrate it. The last birthday that my family threw for me was like my 12th one. 11 years later, not another one.

I’m not really complaining as much as I wish I had a culture of celebrating my birthday largely, I can’t deny the love I get on that day. All the birthday wishes and heartfelt messages from friends and family. But seeing that “SHC4P9Y6 Confirmed. You have received Ksh...... from XYZ” is where the real gist is. Pesa sabuni ya moyo.

Though my ideal birthday would be a good, fine dining experience, definitely involving sushi accompanied by Merlot, a big bouquet of white tulips or assorted chrysanthemums or booking a flight to a destination. Gifted a Cayenne Porsche that’s customised to my taste. Sounds very delusional but it’s still something I embrace. No, actually, it doesn’t sound delusional but ambitious. After all, what we confess is what we possess. As a man thinketh, so is he.

Well, on the other hand, the plan was to have a family, luxury cars, a mansion and financial stability at 25, but a girl can only dream. (Laughs out in unemployment and lack of income). However, small girl, big God. Being a true optimist, I believe that it’s all working out in my favour and a good fulfilling life awaits. But not forgetting how blessed I am so far.

So, hmm… Let’s see what the Jordan year of 23 has in store for me. Still waiting for my prefrontal cortex to arrive at my doorstep, or is it already here?
