Kenya 3x3 fall to Canada in Paris Olympic Games qualifier in Japan

The national 3x3 team fell 19-12 to Canada in their opening FIBA 3x3 Universality Olympic Qualifying  Tournament in Utsunomiya, Japan, on Friday.

The Kenyans, playing in the four-team Group ‘B’ tackle Australia on Saturday before finishing the preliminary round games against Netherlands on Sunday.

Coach Everlyne Kedogo, whose team had a two-week training stint in Miramas, France, said they’re no underdogs and were ready for redemption.

Professional players Mercy Wanyama (Lithuania) and Victoria Reynolds (Mexico) made the team alongside Natalie Akinyi and Madina Okot.

Meanwhile, league champions Kenya Ports Authority teams welcome four teams in this weekend’s national basketball league games.

The porters play Africa Nazarene University (ANU) teams on Saturday and Zetech University Sparks and Absa on Sunday.

Strathmore University sides will be in Eldoret to challenge homes sides Eldonets Platinum and Eldonets on Saturday.

In Nairobi, Equity Bank’s Hawks and Dumas take on University of Nairobi Dynamites and Kenyatta University Pirates respectively.

Kenyatta University Oryx confront Storms as Strathmore University Swords tackle TH3 Swish at the Menengai High School, in Nakuru on Sunday.
