Crime scenePolice launched investigations into the suspected murder of an elderly woman whose body was discovered in a garden near her home in Lari Sub-County, Kiambu County.
Police said Grace Wanjiru Kagwe, 80, had not been answering phone calls, prompting concerns and alerts from the family and neighbours.
A team of police officers responded to the report and conducted a search around the homestead after failing to locate her inside the house.
She stayed alone then, police and the family said.
The search led to the discovery of the woman’s body in a nearby garden, where she was found lying face down with visible blood on her head.
Preliminary observations revealed that the deceased had sustained deep cuts to the forehead and left eye, indicating she may have been the victim of a violent attack.
The body was removed from the scene pending a post-mortem examination, while detectives continue investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and identify those responsible.
Detectives revisited the scene on Monday as part of the probe into the
murder. No arrest had been made by Tuesday amid investigations.
Elsewhere, police in Port Victoria, Busia County, have launched investigations after the remains of an unknown person were discovered at Mumbaka ‘A’ Hills in Bunyala Sub-County.
According to a police report, the incident was reported after the Forester at Port Victoria Forest Station received information from members of the public that a burnt human skeleton had been spotted at Mumbaka ‘A’ Hills.
Police visited the scene and recovered human skeletal remains comprising a skull, partially burnt hand, ribs, and pelvic bones.
The remains were collected and moved to Port Victoria Mortuary pending identification and further forensic examination.
And police in Magarini Sub-County are investigating the death of a 48-year-old man whose decomposed body was recovered from the Galana River after he had been reported missing for several days.
The deceased was identified as Taabu Fondo, a 48-year-old resident of Lukole Village in Gandini Location.
Preliminary investigations established that Fondo had gone missing on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. A missing person report was subsequently made at Baricho Police Post by his cousin.
The scene was documented by investigators before the body was moved to Malindi General Hospital Mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.
Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are
ongoing.
