Every household to be connected to electricity by 2030 – CS Wandayi

Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi has reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that every household has access to electricity by 2030.

Speaking at Kanyumbuni village in Rabai constituency, the CS said the government had committed Sh1.9 billion for Kilifi County.

He singled out Rabai as a historic constituency which should have been connected to electricity a long time ago.

The CS said that the Kanyumbuni electrification project, implemented by the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) and which was commissioned on Saturday, was the largest single project that the government had carried out in the constituency.

It is set to benefit almost 540 households.

The CS was accompanied by area MP Antony Kenga and Kilifi South MP Ken Chonga, who heaped praise on the government for its continued efforts to electrify rural areas.
