Premier Bank has rolled out a Shari'ah-compliant digital
omnichannel banking platform dubbed Premier Connect to enable its customers to
transact with ease, both locally and internationally.
The solution positions Premier Bank as Kenya’s first Shari’ah-compliant digital bank, bridging convenience with compliance for modern, faith-driven consumers.
"This innovation reaffirms our bank’s commitment to delivering progressive, ethical and customer-centric digital banking solutions for the modern, mobile-first consumer," said Osman Dualle, CEO, Premier Bank.
Through the Premier Connect digital platform, customers can open accounts 100 per cent remotely, make real-time payments (IFT, PesaLink, RTGS, SWIFT, BillPay), control cards securely and access treasury and foreign exchange solutions. In partnership with Mastercard, the bank has also developed a wearable payment solution dubbed Premier Tap, which their customers can use to make contactless payments.
“Through our partnership with MasterCard, we’re not just offering technology. We’re delivering convenience, accessibility and a bold step forward for financial inclusion in Kenya,” said Jibril Mohamed, chairman, Premier Bank.
The Premier Tap solution can enable customers to make quick and secure payments using NFC-enabled smart watches, rings, key fobs, phone cases and other stylish wearables. This eliminates the need for cash or cards, ensuring frictionless and secure transactions anytime, anywhere.
"Premier Tap is a lifestyle-forward, tech-driven banking tool, aligning with the evolving needs of young, urban and digitally savvy consumers," said Mark Elliott, President of Mastercard Africa.
The solution integrates MasterCard’s world-class security features, including tokenisation and encryption, to ensure every transaction is protected from fraud.
“Premier Tap is a testament to our shared vision of making
digital payments accessible, stylish and secure. It combines cutting-edge
tokenisation with everyday convenience, ensuring that secure, contactless
payments become a reality for every Kenyan,” said Shehryar Ali, Senior Vice
President and Country Manager for East Africa and Indian Ocean Islands at
MasterCard.
Premier Tap is now available at all Premier Bank branches and online through My Premier App. Customers can sign up and select their preferred wearable, unlocking the future of digital payments today.
