President William Ruto was among the faithful who attended a church service at St Mary’s AIPCA Church, Kathelwa, Meru County.
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Meru Governor Isaac Mutuma, Meru Senator Kathuri Murungi, and a host of local MPs accompanied the President.
Others were Cabinet Secretary Eric Muga (Water) and PSs Patrick Kilemi (Cooperatives), Gitonga Mugambi (Forestry), Bety Njagi (Blue Economy), Alex Wachira and Mary Muthoni (Public Health).

Addressing the faithful, Ruto emphasised that while the elections are important, they are still two years away, and leaders must focus on service delivery in the meantime.
“Elections will be held in 2027, and like before, they will
be held in one day—not two or more,” Ruto stated.
“But right now, what we need is work. Leaders must stop politicking from Monday to Sunday, January to December. That is what has made this country lag.”

Ruto confirmed that his administration is looking to build a State Lodge in Meru Town.
Ruto relayed that the new construction would facilitate his future stays in the town, as it has been pegged to be Kenya's sixth city.
He also confirmed that plans were underway, both at the national level and at the county level, to ensure that Meru became the next city after Eldoret.

Insisting that he was also forward to having Meru as a city, he noted that he would take advantage of the city status to have a State Lodge in the region.
To hasten the process of making Meru a city, Ruto announced that his administration had set aside about Sh20 billion for the upgrading of roads in the region.
A further Sh800 million had been allocated to renovate Meru's biggest market, Gakoromone, to also upgrade it to city status.
