SHA unveils list of 12 for CEO post, Ingasira, Mwangangi feature

The interviews have been scheduled for April 7 and 8 at SHA headquarters.

A total of 12 candidates have been shortlisted for the position of the Social Health Authority (SHA) CEO.

The individuals emerged successful from a long list of 92 applicants who had expressed interest in the position after the suspension of Elijah Wachira last November.  In his place, Robert Ingasira was appointed in an acting capacity.

The authority advertised for the position on February 27, with the deadline for submission being March 20, 2025.

Former Health Chief Administrative Secretary Mercy Mwangangi and Ingasira are among the notable figures featured in the list of the 12.

Others are Kennedy Akello, Roberts Abok, Serem Edward, Wario Tore, Agrippina Fernendes, Abdullahi Abdirahman, Musa Lwegado, Samson Kairang'a, Dinah Kirwa, and Kandie Ng'ochoch.

The interviews have been scheduled for April 7 and 8 at SHA headquarters.

"Applicants should report to the venue 30 minutes before the scheduled time," reads the notice issued by SHA CEO Abdi Mohamed.

Kenyans have also been asked to submit any information relayed to any of the candidates ahead of the interviews.

"Members of the public are invited to avail any adverse information relating to any of the shortlisted applicants to the Chairperson, Social Health Authority Board, SHA Building, 10th Floor, Nairobi, or through email to [email protected] so as to be received on or before 4th April 2025 at 5.00pm," it states.

The candidates are required to present the original National Identity card, academic and professional certificates, and transcripts. 

They must also provide valid clearances from the Higher Education Loans Board, Kenya Revenue Authority, a registered Credit Reference Bureau, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (Police Clearance), and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, including a duly stamped Self-Declaration Form or an acknowledgment from EACC.

For those with degrees from foreign universities, a recognition letter from the Commission for University Education is required. 

Additionally, applicants should provide recommendation letters or certificates of good standing from relevant professional bodies and associations where applicable. 

SHA is a state corporation established to manage public health insurance, aiming to provide accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare for all citizens and eligible residents.

It replaced the 58-year old National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) following the enactment of the Social Health Insurance Act, 2023, on November 22, 2023. It commenced its operations on October 1, 2024.
