Four people have been killed in a tragic road accident involving a private Suzuki Wagon and a trailer on Saturday morning along the Northern by-pass near the Membley Bridge area.

The accident occured at 03:42 am.

According to the preliminary police report, the driver of the Suzuki Wagon was heading in the same direction as the trailer, from Kahawa West towards the Membley roundabout.

Upon reaching the Membley Bridge area, the Suzuki rammed into the rear of the trailer under unclear circumstances.

The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in the instant death of all four occupants in the Suzuki, including the driver.

The trailer driver, Peter Wachira, survived the incident.

Authorities visited and documented the scene in accordance with procedure.

The driver and one of the passengers have since been identified, while the efforts are underway to establish the identity of the remaining two passengers

The bodies of the deceased have been transferred to General Kago Mortuary in Thika for preservation, identification, and post-mortem examinations.

According to the reports, the road was tarmacked, and weather conditions were calm at the time of the accident.

Investigations are ongoing to establish the exact cause of the fatal collision.

The incident comes a week after at least seven people were reported dead in an accident in the Limuru area along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway.

The seven were onboard a 14-seater matatu when it lost control and veered off the road at the Kamandura junction on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway, police said.

Witnesses and police said the vehicle plunged into a steep slope and rolled several times, killing five on the spot.
