Kenyatta National Hospital

Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) has asked Kenyans to ignore a social media post purporting that the facility is recruiting people to fill several positions.

The hospital stated that the job advertisement being shared on social media is fake.

“This fake job post is designed to mislead job seekers and may attempt to collect personal information or demand payment for processing fees,” the hospital said.

KNH noted that it never asks for payment at any stage of recruitment.

“Always verify job openings through our official website (http://knh.or.ke). Stay vigilant and share this message to protect others from fraud,” the hospital urged.

The job post indicated that there are 735 jobs available in 14 positions.

It listed the positions as registered nurse, medical assistant, office secretary, IT officer, security guard, store keeper, cleaners, lab technician, orthopaedic trauma technologist, emergency medical technologist, public health officer, theatre nurse and community development officer.

The post asked interested candidates to send their applications to the hospital not later than April 20, 2025, applying once and for a single position.

The caution by KNH came barely hours after the Technical University of Kenya dismissed reports that the institution had temporarily been closed over financial challenges.

The university said a letter purportedly written to members of staff and student fraternity informing them of the closure is fake.

“Treat this document circulated online as fake. The University has not been closed.  Classes and normal operations are on,” the institution said.

The letter dated April 17, 2025, stated that the closure follows the declaration of insolvency by the management and the institution's financial crisis.

It said the Technical University would be closed with effect from Monday, April 21.

“The university will remain closed for three months or until a satisfactory agreement has been reached on the way forward. During this, you will not be allowed within university premises,” it said.

“We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work towards resolving the institution’s financial challenges.”
