In Summary

Clogged ears can result from various causes, often linked to blockages in the Eustachian tube, which balances ear pressure.

Common culprits include earwax buildup, fluid from sinus infections or colds, and allergies, which cause inflammation and congestion.

Air pressure changes during flights or altitude shifts can also lead to temporary ear clogging. In some cases, swimmer’s ear—an infection from trapped water—can be the issue.

Less commonly, underlying conditions like temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders may contribute.

Identifying the cause is key to effective treatment, whether it involves decongestants, ear drops, or medical intervention for persistent or painful symptoms.
