The Kenya Meteorological Department has, in its latest forecast, said rainfall is expected to continue across parts of the Central Highlands, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Coast, and Western Kenya.
In the seven-day forecast covering May 27 to June 2, the weatherman said rain distribution will be varied, with intensity at the coastal strip covering Lamu and Garsen ranging from 10 to 20mm.
Areas in Kilifi bordering the Indian Ocean will also receive some rain although of negligible amounts of between 1-10mm same as areas around Tsavo, Bura and Kwale.
According to the forecast, the rain will mostly be concenrtated in the Rift Valley region in Trans Nzoia, Bungoma, Uasin Gishu, Bomet, Kericho and Nakuru counties with intensity ranging from 10-20mm.
The intesity will increase to between 20-50mm in the Lake Victoria Basin and Western Kenya regions in the counties of Busia, Migori, Nyamira, Kisii, Homa Bay, Siaya, Kisumu and Vihiga.
The scenario will be replicated in Central Highlands in the counties of Kiambu, Murang'a, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Tharaka Nithi, Meru and Laikipia with pockets of Tharaka Nithi, Nyandarua and Murang'a receiving up to 120mm of rain.
Areas within Kakamega, Busia and the border between Nandi and Kericho counties will also receive rains of up to 120mm while Narok, Baringo and Elgeyo Marakwet will remain dry throughout the forecast period.
Mandera county will receive up to 10mm of rainfall, same as Kajiado and Nairobi counties.
The weatherman said daytime temperatures above 30°C are likely over much of the Coast, Northeastern and Northwestern Kenya during the period under review.
"Night-time temperatures may fall below 10°C in parts of the Central Highlands, Central Rift Valley and the area around Mt Kilimanjaro," Met said.
Strong winds from the south to southeast of less than 25 knots/12.86 m/s are expected over the Coast (including Kenya’s territorial waters), Southeastern lowlands, Northeastern and Northwestern Kenya, Kenya Met said.
