President William Ruto on Wednesday hosted governors at State House, Nairobi, for consultations.

The President said their meeting revolved around reviewing progress on the implementation of key inter-governmental development projects.

Ruto said the government has embarked on an ambitious digitisation programme of public health facilities to weed out fake hospitals that have for long unfairly benefited from public funds.

“To deepen our agricultural reforms, we will harmonise and consolidate operations of agencies and departments under the Ministry of Agriculture,” the President said.

He added that the government will also enhance animal traceability by registering livestock farmers and introducing the e-voucher system for animal vaccination, as we successfully did with the distribution of subsidised fertiliser.

Ruto pledged to leverage a robust cooperative ecosystem to unlock the full potential of the agriculture sector, increase productivity, improve prices, and put more money in farmers' pockets.

“We will continue consulting frequently as two levels of government to foster a harmonious working relationship,” he added.
