When Hannah Cheptumo was appointed Gender and Affirmative Action Cabinet Secretary, it marked more than a routine reshuffle in government. It signalled a renewed opportunity to reset the moral and strategic compass of a ministry at the intersection of policy, equity, justice and social transformation.
Since her appointment, Cheptumo has had ample time to “take on” her new role — time not just for acclimatisation, but also for reflection, engagement and strategic visioning. Kenyans are now watching with expectation, agency and urgency, hoping this chapter will be different — visionary, bolder, more grounded, collaborative and uncompromising in its resolve.
