Crime scene

Police are investigating an incident where two workers of a supermarket were electrocuted in the Nderi area, Kikuyu, Kiambu County.

The two are believed to have been washing the premises’ kitchen when they stepped onto a wet floor that had a live wire.

Police said the bodies of Silas Kiprotich Keter, 36, and Peter Kinyanjui Njeri, 33, were found in a pool of water on the kitchen floor.

They were unresponsive when a manager stumbled upon their bodies, police said.

They had no shoes on at the time the bodies were discovered on the evening of June 21. Kenya Power and Lighting officials were called to the scene to document it as part of the investigation.

The bodies were moved to the mortuary pending further investigations.

Officials have been running campaigns to address the rising cases of electrocution in homes and workplaces.

Statistics show most incidents are caused by illegal power connections and lack of awareness of the dangers posed by live electricity.

Elsewhere in Kipipiri, Nyandarua County, a man was found dead in his compound.

The victim was identified as Zakayo Njuguna, 58, police said.

The deceased lived alone, and it is suspected he fell and fatally injured himself while returning home, with no one around to assist him.

Police said they are investigating the incident. The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and further examination.

Meanwhile, a man was found dead with multiple injuries after a suspected elephant attack in a village in Magadi, Kajiado County.

The deceased, identified as Kokiya Ole Soipano, 58, was found in Torosei following the June 20 incident, police said.

His body was discovered in a bush by herdsmen tending livestock in the area.

Police and Kenya Wildlife Service officials were called to the scene and assisted in moving the body to the mortuary.

Locals said the deceased was on his way to a shopping centre when he was attacked and killed by the elephant.

Police who visited the scene confirmed the body had multiple injuries.

Such cases of human-wildlife conflict are common in the area despite ongoing efforts to address the issue.
