Ex-Tana River Governor Hussein Dado lands job in government

Dado will lead the Public Service Superannuation Fund Board for three years, effective from July 4, 2025.

Former Tana River Governor Hussein Dado has been appointed the non-executive chairperson of the Public Service Superannuation Fund (PSSF) Board of Trustees.

The appointment was announced through Gazette Notice No. 8738, issued by Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi. 

Dado, according to the notice, will serve in the capacity for three years, effective from July 4, 2025.

The appointment is in line with Section 10(1)(a) of the Public Service Superannuation Scheme Act (Cap. 189A), which provides for the constitution and leadership of the Fund’s Board of Trustees.

Dado brings to the board extensive experience in governance and public administration, having previously served as the first Governor of Tana River County between 2013 and 2017. 

He has also held various positions in public service, including in provincial administration, before joining elective politics.

The Public Service Superannuation Fund was established to manage retirement benefits for public servants under a contributory pension scheme. 

As chairperson, Dado is expected to offer leadership in strengthening the governance and operational efficiency of the Fund.

His appointment is part of ongoing reforms aimed at enhancing the financial sustainability of pension schemes for government employees.

Mbadi, at the same time, revoked the appointment of Susan Mambo as a member of the Public Procurement Administrative Review Board.

"In exercise of of the powers conferred by section 29 (1) (c) of the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary, revokes the appointment of SUSAN N. MAMBO (DR.) as a member of the Public Procurement Administrative Review Board, with effect from the 4th July, 2025," reads the notice.

In other appointments contained in the notice, Trade Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui has picked Consolata Rop as a member of the National Standards Council.

Rop will serve for three years, with effect from July 4, 2025.

On his part, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has appointed Henry Anyona as a member of the board of the Jomo Kenyatta Foundation for three years.

Anyona will replace Consolata Rop, whose appointment has been revoked.
