
Police are investigating three suspected suicide cases reported in different parts of the country over the weekend, including two in Kakamega County and one in Nyamira County.
In the first incident, a 49-year-old man, Nabenya Anyanga, was found dead at his home in Eshitiata Village, Shirembe Sub-location, Butere Sub-county, Kakamega County.
According to police, Anyanga’s body was discovered hanging from the roof rafters of his house at around 7:05 p.m. on Saturday.
The matter was reported to Butere Police Station by a relative. Officers visited the scene and found no visible physical injuries. No suicide note was recovered.
The body was moved to Butere Morgue pending a post-mortem examination.
Police have opened an inquiry under file number 5/25.
In Nyamira County, a 40-year-old man, Naftaly Nyang’au, is reported to have died by suicide at his residence in Magwero 1 Village, Nyankoba Sub-location, Masaba North Sub-county.
The case was reported to Keroka Police Station by Senior Assistant Chief Eric Marando. Officers from Keroka Police Station responded and found the deceased hanging from a mosquito net tied to a roof rafter.
Police said the man, who lived alone, was found by his son, James Gichina Okoa, a Grade Two pupil.
The child had come to visit him and found the door locked from inside.
The body was moved to Gucha Hospital Mortuary for autopsy. Investigations are being handled by DCI officers from Masaba North.
In another case in Likuyani Sub-county, Kakamega County, police are investigating the death of David Wanyoike Ndung’u, 62, whose body was found hanging on a rope.
The incident was reported to Matunda Police Station on Saturday at around 1:30 p.m.
Officers from Gatongora Police Station and DCI Ruiru visited the scene and confirmed the death.
No suicide note was recovered.
The body was taken to General Kago Hospital Mortuary in Thika pending post-mortem.
Police have launched investigations into all three cases.
