Detectives are investigating an incident where a man aged 84 was found murdered in his house in the Kahawa West area, Nairobi.
The man identified as
Joseph Njoroge was alone when he was found dead in his sitting room.
A relative had tried to reach him through his mobile phone in vain.
This forced him to go and check
on him when he found the body lying on the floor long after the old man had
died on August 6.
Police who visited the scene said the
body had strangulation marks on the neck.
The house where the man stayed was ransacked, and valuables were stolen. The motive of the incident is yet to be known, police
said as they moved the body to the mortuary pending autopsy and other
investigations.
Elsewhere in the Embakasi area, Nairobi, a
man was found dead with his body tied to wooden structures.
Police said they are investigating a murder in the incident involving one Joseph Kyalo, 30.
The body had cuts on the right arm,
head and leg. Witnesses said the man had earlier been accused of attempting to
steal from a scrap metal yard before he was attacked by some security guards
there.
Police revisited the scene on Thursday as part of the probe into the incident and announced that the body is lying in the mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.
In Machakos’ Athi River area, a man was stabbed to death in an incident.
It is not clear what prompted
the stabbing of Edwin Kanyanga, 45, police said. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.
Police announced the
body was moved to the mortuary pending a murder probe and autopsy.
And in Njoro, Nakuru
County, a suspect was arrested in a murder probe in Tiritagoi village.
Members of the public
arrested the suspect before police were called to the scene and picked him up
for questioning over the incident that happened on August 2 in the area.
Police said they are still investigating the murder and hope the arrest of the suspect will help solve the case.
