Detectives in Nairobi have launched investigations after the body of a missing man was discovered at the Talanta City Stadium construction site in Jamhuri.
The body of 35-year-old Sammy Kyengo, who had been reported missing on 6 September 2025, was found a week later in a water sump at the site. Police said the body had been concealed with pieces of boards behind the terraces under construction.
Casual workers stumbled upon the grim discovery on September 13 while clearing construction materials to prepare for plastering.
According to police, the body bore injuries on the back of the head and the right side of the neck. Blood was also seen oozing from the nose and mouth, raising suspicions of foul play.
The motive of the killing and those behind it remain unclear.
The body has since been taken to the mortuary for an autopsy as detectives piece together the circumstances surrounding his death.
The incident forced managers of the project to suspend work on Saturday to allow police to secure the scene and gather evidence.
Family members said they had been searching for Kyengo in hospitals, police stations and mortuaries without success until the devastating news broke. Other workers at the site confirmed seeing him on the day he disappeared, but could not remember if he left the premises.
Meanwhile, in Naiberi, Uasin Gishu County, police arrested a man accused of killing his daughter following an altercation in the Huruma area.
The girl reportedly sustained serious head injuries after being assaulted. She was rushed to the hospital but later died while undergoing treatment.
Police said the body was moved to the mortuary for a post-mortem. They added that murder charges will be preferred against the suspect over the 13 September incident.
