Five suspects have been arrested, and the stolen government stores recovered in a police operation in Kajiado.
The incident happened when police officers from Ongata Rongai Police Station spotted two middle-aged men acting suspiciously during a routine patrol.
Police in a statement on Thursday said upon questioning the men, officers searched one suspect and discovered a pair of handcuffs hidden inside his jacket pocket.
"A second suspect who initially attempted to escape was apprehended after a brief pursuit," police said.
During interrogation, the suspects alleged that they had obtained the items from another person, whose whereabouts were unknown.
They cooperated with the officers and led them to the Kware area, where a thorough search was conducted.
"They then led officers to the Kware area, where a thorough search of the premises resulted in the recovery of four spent cartridges and a police baton," the police said in the statement.
The operation also resulted in the arrest of three more suspects at the scene, bringing the total number of suspects taken into custody to five.
The seized items were secured as exhibits and will be used in ongoing investigations.
