

President William Ruto has congratulated the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) winners of the just-concluded party nominations.
UDA conducted party nominations from September 20, 2025, ahead of the upcoming by-elections.
Ruto said the elections were free, fair and non-violent,adding that the foundation of the party manifests UDA’s devotion to the will of the people.
“Congratulations to all the winners of the just concluded United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party nominations. We will unite and drive formidable campaigns that will deliver victory to our candidates in the November 27 by-elections,” he said in a statement on X.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission announced that all by-elections will be conducted on November 27, 2025.
The commission said gazettement for 16 ward by-elections was done on Friday, August 8, alongside the appointment of Returning and Deputy Returning Officers who will conduct the polls.
This comes after Kakamega assembly minority leader David Ndakwa became the UDA candidate for the Malava MP seat.
Ndakwa won the ticket after receiving 6,477 votes against
rival Ryan Injendi, who came second with 3,783 votes.
Lawyer Leonard Shimaka got 1,192 votes, and former principal Simon Kangwana got 1,064 votes.
UDA will also be taking part in wards elections.
The wards include Angata Nanyokie Ward in Samburu county, Chemundu/Kapng’etuny Ward in Nandi county, Chewani Ward in Tana River county, Fafi Ward in Garissa county, Kariobangi North Ward in Nairobi county, Kisa East Ward in Kakamega county and Metkei Ward in Elgeyo Marakwet county.
Others are Mumbuni North Ward in Machakos county, Narok Town Ward in Narok county, Purko Ward in Kajiado county, Tembelio Ward in Uasin Gishu county, Nyansiongo, Nyamaiya and Ekerenyo Wards in Nyamira county, as well as Lake Zone and Nanaam Wards in Turkana county.
The second batch, published on Monday, August 11, 2025, covered the by-election for the Member of Senate in Baringo county, Members of the National Assembly for Banissa, Kasipul, Magarini, Malava, Mbeere North and Ugunja constituencies, and the Member of County Assembly for Kabuchai/Chwele Ward in Bungoma county.
Among those who won the nominations are Philip Kipkosgey Kiprutto, who clinched the Metkei Ward UDA Party ticket after garnering 2117 votes in the nominations conducted on Saturday.
The candidate beat four other aspirants: Daniel Chirchir (1778), Victor Mutai (71), Nancy Bursalai (31), and Stephen Kiprono (8), to carry the day.
He was handed the Party's provisional certificate by the National Election Board (NEB) Member Halake Dida, who is in charge of nominations in Wards in Elgeyo Marakwet, Uasin Gishu and Nandi counties.
Kiprono Cheburet garnered 48,791 votes in the UDA Party nominations contest to clinch the party ticket for the November 27 Baringo Senatorial by-election.
Cherubet emerged victorious among the pack of nine contestants who had expressed interest in flying the UDA Party colours in the by-election.
Tobole Kipsang Kibor Wycliffe came in second with 30,897 votes, while Daniel Kiptoo Korir came third with 23,613 votes.
Others in the race were Sylas Kipkogey Tochim (769), Evans Kiprotich Mundulel Bett (735), Joseph Rotich Cherutoi (172), Isaiah Kipkoros Kipkurnet (141), Linus Musa Kamket (118) and Reuben Chirchir Chepsongol (82).
Robert Kanyinke Kudate won the UDA ticket for Narok Town ward in the upcoming by-election.
