The Kenya Meteorological Department has forecast dry and sunny weather to be experienced in most parts of the country this week.

The forecast is the prediction of the weather for Tuesday, September 23, to Monday,  September 29, 2025.

Kenya Met, however, said rainfall is expected in the Highlands East and West of Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin and North-western Kenya.

According to the Department, parts of Coast, North and North-western Kenya will have high temperatures of up to  30°C.

Central Highlands, the Central Rift and the Mt. Kilimanjaro region will experience low temperatures of up to 10°C.

Kenya Met said there will be strong winds (25+ knots) in the Coast, South East lowlands, North East and North West Kenya.

The Department reviewed the forecast for September 15 to 21, saying Kitale recorded 76.4mm in 7 days and 59.0mm in 24 hours on September 20.

According to them, the hottest county was Mandera with 38.6°C on September 16, while the coldest county was Nyahururu with 5.0°C on September 21.

From the September 16 to Monday to September 22, 2025, forecast, Kenya Met predicted heavy rainfall in Nairobi and other regions.

The other regions included the Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Western Kenya, the Coast and parts of the Central Highlands.

The department said most of the country will remain sunny and dry, but several regions should brace for significant rainfall.

Residents in the highlighted areas were urged to remain alert to possible weather-related disruptions.

The forecast also warned of strong southerly to south-easterly winds exceeding 25 knots (12.86 m/s) across the Coast and Kenya’s territorial waters, as well as in the south-eastern lowlands, north-eastern and north-western Kenya.

These conditions could pose risks for marine activities, transport, and infrastructure.

Temperature variations were also expected across the country.

Daytime highs above 30°C are experienced in the Coast, North-eastern and North-western regions.

In contrast, night-time lows below 10°C are in sections of the Central Highlands, the Central Rift Valley and the Mt Kilimanjaro region.

The Kenya Meteorological Department said it will continue to monitor conditions closely and provide regular updates.

The department urged Kenyans to stay informed through official channels and to take precautions, particularly in regions expecting heavy rainfall, strong winds and extreme temperatures.
