Digging of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's grave at his Bondo ancestral home has begun.
The former prime minister will be buried Sunday next to his father, the late Jaramogi Oginga, at Kang'o ka Jaramogi in Bondo, Siaya county.
In a video seen by the Star, a tractor is seen digging the grave where the mortal remains of the former prime minister will be buried.
This comes after Siaya Senator and Raila's elder brother, Oburu Odinga, officially opened Raila's Bondo home for mourners, known as 'tero ywak pacho'—bringing the cry home.
Raila was originally set to be buried next to his mother, Mary Odinga, but after Oburu's arrival, it was decided that he would be buried next to his father.
Mourners are expected to conduct a night vigil at the Opoda home in honour of the former ODM party leader ahead of his burial on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
