Winnie Odinga, the daughter of the late former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga, has dismissed rumours circulating on social media about the circumstances surrounding her father’s death, giving a heartfelt account of his final moments.
Speaking emotionally, Winnie revealed that she was present when her father took his last breath.
“I was with him when he took his last breath. He died on my arm,” she said, describing the moment with visible emotion.
She expressed her disappointment over false reports spreading online about her father’s health and passing.
“He did not die like people have been saying on social media,” Winnie clarified, urging Kenyans to respect the truth and honour her father’s memory.
Winnie painted a picture of a man who remained active and disciplined to his last day.
“Every day he would wake up and take a walk, and every day he would do one round, then the next two rounds,” she explained.
On the day he passed away, she said, Raila appeared stronger than usual.
“That day he took five rounds,” she recounted, emphasizing that her father faced his final moments full of strength and vitality.
Winnie added that her father’s passing was not one of weakness, but one of courage and honour.
“He died strong, and with dignity and with pride,” she said firmly, adding, “You must be proud of that.”
Her words offered a moving image of a leader who remained resilient and graceful until the end — a fitting reflection of the man who, for decades, embodied Kenya’s struggle for democracy, unity, and justice.
Winnie Odinga, the daughter of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, delivered an emotional and spirited tribute to her father, describing him as both “Dad and superhero” — a man whose love, wit, and courage shaped her life.
“I don’t know who I’ll miss more — my Dad or my superhero,” she began, her voice breaking as mourners listened in silence.
