Laikipia University has launched a recruitment drive targeting lecturers, technologists and administrative professionals as part of efforts to strengthen teaching, research and service delivery across its academic and support departments.
In a vacancy notice issued by the Office of the Registrar for Administration and Human Capital, the public chartered university announced 14 vacancies spread across academic schools and administrative divisions.
The institution said the recruitment is intended to support its mission of nurturing and transforming society through education, research, training, consultancy, innovation, outreach and collaboration.
Among the positions advertised is a Lecturer in Sociology of Education on permanent and pensionable terms within the School of Education.
The university is also seeking an Educational Technologist Specialist under the same school on a three-year contract.
In the School of Science and Applied Technology, the institution is recruiting a GIS Technology Specialist on a three-year contract.
The School of Agriculture and Natural Resources has the highest number of academic vacancies.
The university is seeking a Senior Lecturer in Agricultural Economics on permanent and pensionable terms, alongside lecturers in Agricultural Engineering, Horticulture and Animal Production, all on permanent and pensionable terms.
Within the School of Humanities and Development Studies, vacancies have been announced for lecturers in History and Religion, with both positions offered on permanent and pensionable terms.
The recruitment drive also targets the Information and Communication Technology department, where the university is seeking a specialist in Programming and Systems Development and a specialist in Networking through two ICT Officer II positions. Both roles are offered on two-year contract terms.
In the administrative division, Laikipia University is recruiting two Fleet Driver I positions in the Transport Department for candidates qualified in driver-cum-mechanic duties on two-year contracts.
The institution is also seeking a Senior Procurement Officer specialising in Supplies Management in the Procurement Department on a five-year contract.
Most of the academic positions are being offered on permanent and pensionable terms, while several technical and administrative roles will be filled on contractual terms ranging between two and five years.
The university advised prospective applicants seeking detailed specifications and requirements for the advertised positions to visit its website, www.laikipia.ac.ke, where comprehensive vacancy information has been published.
According to the notice, successful candidates will be required to obtain clearance certificates from the Kenya Revenue Authority, Higher Education Loans Board, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, Directorate of Criminal Investigations and a registered Credit Reference Bureau.
Applicants with qualifications awarded by foreign universities and institutions will also be required to provide recognition and equation certificates issued by the Commission for University Education where applicable.
The university further noted that shortlisted candidates will be required to complete consent forms to facilitate background checks as part of the recruitment process.
Interested applicants have been directed to submit five hard copies of their applications to the Registrar for Administration and Human Capital and also send a running PDF version of the application package through the university’s recruitment email.
Applications must be received by June 9, 2026, after which no further submissions will be considered. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
