Artists set to perform at the One Night only Concert at the Sarit Expo Centre on May 31, 2026.

For many Nairobi millennials, the upcoming “One Night Only” concert is becoming more than just another entertainment event.

It is turning into a reunion built around the music, memories and experiences that defined an entire generation.

Set for the Madaraka Day long weekend at the Sarit Expo Centre, the black-tie concert is already generating excitement among fans looking for a more mature and nostalgic entertainment experience.

Unlike many mainstream concerts currently targeting Gen Z audiences, organisers say “One Night Only” is intentionally designed for audiences in their late 20s, 30s and 40s.

It is a crowd that grew up on soulful R&B, smooth jazz, lyrical songwriting and live band performances.

For many, the event represents a chance to reconnect with an era they still deeply relate to.

The nostalgia factor is one of the biggest reasons behind the growing anticipation.

From road trips and campus parties to weddings and heartbreak playlists, the music attached to the concert’s lineup carries emotional memories for many Nairobi millennials.

The event will feature Grammy-winning saxophonist Kirk Whalum, American R&B icon Karyn White, Tanzanian star Ali Kiba and Kenyan singer Bien in what organisers are calling a “1 Queen, 3 Kings” experience.

For the first time, all four acts will share one stage in a single production.

Organisers describe it as a Las Vegas style concert experience focused on premium live entertainment, elegant production and a sophisticated atmosphere.

The return of “One Night Only” also comes after the success of the 2025 Kenny G concert in Nairobi, which completely sold out and raised expectations for premium concerts in the city.

According to organisers, more than 93 per cent of attendees rated last year’s experience as excellent or good, while 81 per cent said they would return for a similar event.

That success appears to have created even more demand for this year’s edition.

For many attendees, the concert is also becoming a rare opportunity to reconnect physically in an age where most interactions now happen online.

Groups of former classmates, work colleagues and longtime friends are already planning coordinated outings around the event, with many describing it as the perfect excuse to dress up, step out and relive the kind of social experiences that once defined Nairobi’s entertainment scene.

Organisers say the combination of nostalgia, premium live music and an older, mature crowd is what continues to make “One Night Only” stand out from the city’s typical concert experiences.

Early Bird tickets priced at Sh5,000 have already sold out, with remaining ticket categories continuing to move quickly online.

Current ticket prices stand at Sh7,500 for Gallery, Sh9,500 for Middle Row and Sh12,500 for Front Row seats.

Organisers have also maintained a strict no gate tickets policy while also noting that once online tickets sell out, no additional entries will be allowed at the venue.

The approach is part of efforts to maintain exclusivity, crowd comfort and a premium event atmosphere.

The black-tie dress code is also being strongly emphasised, with organisers encouraging guests to show up in elegant gowns, stylish suits and polished looks.

Across Nairobi’s social spaces, many millennials have described the concert as an opportunity to relive a different era of entertainment.

An era where people danced more, connected more easily and experienced music in a more emotional and communal way.

With the Madaraka Day weekend expected to attract thousands of entertainment lovers across the city, “One Night Only” is quickly shaping up as one of Nairobi’s most talked-about lifestyle events.

The concert will take place on Sunday, May 31, at the Sarit Expo Centre, with gates opening at 3pm and performances running between 6pm and 10pm.
