A GOVERNOR WHO has consistently scored highly for his
work could be staring at trouble. There are reports, some already sent to
investigative agencies, that the governor’s spouse is siphoning public funds.
It’s alleged the amount could be up to Sh200 million. The scheme involves
falsifying documents to justify fraudulent payments and forgery of signatures
of former county officials. Some funds meant for genuine contractors were
reportedly channeled to proxies and shell companies. The governor is also
under fire for erecting billboards with personal images across the expansive
devolved unit.

A DECLARATION BY a top politician that his party will
conduct nominations for all elective positions has rattled incumbents in a
certain part of the country. Why? Some of them had assumed they would be handed
direct tickets. In previous elections, a number of MPs and senators were given
direct tickets and they were expecting the same script would be used in 2027.
Some leaders have began hatching a plot to “snatch” nomination certificates
irrespective of the method used. In the region, securing the party ticket is
considered a battle half won and so politicians do all within their financial
capacity to bag it.
