A RENOWNED CIVIL society outfit with an international reputation can't effectively deal with its inherent power struggle. The chairman of the board, whose role should basically be advisory on general strategic policy direction, can't stop micromanaging the secretariat led by the executive director. The man has even been releasing press statements on behalf of the lobby, a role that is ideally reserved for the head of the secretariat in similar agencies, unless in extraordinary circumstances.
