In Summary

The 2024 World Giving Index reveals that Poland ranks lowest globally in assisting strangers, with only 23% of respondents reporting such behavior.

Japan follows closely at 24%, and Cambodia at 28%. Other countries in the bottom ten include France (38%), Lithuania (41%), Croatia (43%), and Kazakhstan, Slovakia, Switzerland, and Serbia, each at 45%

These figures suggest cultural and societal factors may influence the willingness to help strangers. For instance, Japan's emphasis on privacy and self-reliance might contribute to its lower percentage

The report underscores the importance of fostering community engagement and trust to enhance social cohesion and support networks worldwide.
