A 2025 report by Kenya’s Anti-Counterfeit Authority has revealed a sharp rise in counterfeit automotive spare parts across the country.
The agency warns that fake components, including brake pads, spark plugs, and engine parts, now dominate the market, posing serious risks to road safety and causing significant losses for genuine manufacturers.
According to the authority, unsuspecting motorists often fall prey to cheap, low-quality alternatives that compromise vehicle performance and safety.
The report calls for stronger enforcement measures, increased consumer awareness, and closer collaboration between authorities and stakeholders to curb the spread of counterfeit car parts in Kenya.
