Kenya’s political leadership has expressed strong condemnation following controversial remarks by Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga regarding the late Raila Odinga.
Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru described the comments as “callous and irresponsible,” emphasising they do not reflect the views of Mt. Kenya leadership or people.
Trade CS Lee Kinyanjui called the statement a “cheap digression” that fails to honour a nation in mourning.
Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi labeled the remarks “irresponsible and reckless,” while Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire described them as “careless and profoundly disrespectful” to the memory of the statesman.
Kahiga has since stepped down as Vice Chairperson of the Council of Governors.
