

Former Judge of the East African Court, Charles Nyachae and the immediate former Chief Registrar of the Judiciary, Anne Amadi, are among 11 persons shortlisted to become the next Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission chairperson.
In a notice released by the Selection Panel for the recruitment of nominees, the oral interviews are slated to start on Monday, March 24, 2025, and end on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at the College of Insurance in South C, Nairobi.
The first batch of candidates will include Nyachae, Amadi, Abdulqadir Lorot H. Ramadhan, and Edward Katama Ngeywa.
Their sessions are scheduled between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm.
The second batch will be interviewed on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. They include Erastus Edung Ethekon, Francis Kakai Kissinger, Jacob Ngwele Muvengei, and Joy Brenda Masinde-Mdivo.
On the last day, March 26, Lillian Wanjiku Manegene, Robert Akumu Asembo, and Saul Simiyu Wasilwa (Bungoma) will be interviewed.
According to the Selection Panel, interviews for the six vacant IEBC Member positions will commence on Thursday, March 27, 2025, and run until Thursday, April 24, 2025.
The chairperson of the Selection Panel, Nelson Makanda, reaffirmed the panel's commitment to a fair selection process.
"We will ensure that only the most qualified and competent individuals are shortlisted and appointed to steer the commission forward,” he said.
The Panel reminded all shortlisted candidate to present their original national identity card or passports, along with the originals of their testimonials and certificates.
Candidates must also submit current and valid clearances from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the Higher Education Loans Board, the Kenya Revenue Authority, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, and the Credit Reference Bureau.
Those with foreign degrees must obtain verification from the Commission for University Education.
The Selection Panel has also invited the public to submit written memoranda on the suitability of any shortlisted candidate to serve as IEBC Chairperson or Member.
The memoranda must be submitted under oath and delivered via registered mail, hand-delivered at the 3rd Floor, County House Building, Parliament Road, or emailed as a PDF attachment to [email protected].
The deadline for memoranda submissions concerning the Chairperson position is March 19, 2025, by 5 pm (EAT), while those for Member positions must be received by March 26, 2025, at 5 pm
