First Lady Rachel Ruto and Mama Ida Odinga on Wednesday condoled with Dagoretti North Member of Parliament Beatrice Elachi following the passing of his son.

The MP’s son Elvis Murakana Namenya died earlier in the week. The cause of death remains unclear.

A host of MPs, including Speaker of National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula, was among those who were present.

The First Lady, in her message, described the death as agonizing.

"The joy of every parent starts with their children, and the loss of a child is heartbreaking," she said in a statement after the visit.

Mama Rachel prayed for the family, hoping that Elvis would find everlasting peace and that the family would find refuge by putting their faith in God.

"My Heartfelt condolences to my friend and MP for Dagoretti North, Beatrice Elachi, on the loss of your beloved son, Elvis," she said. 

"May the almighty God comfort you and your family during this time," Ida added.
