This has been a turn around, considering that the previous weeks have been marred by murder incidents.

CAR DEALER ARRESTED OVER ALLEGED THEFT

On Sunday, a car dealer was arrested over claims he stole a business rival’s Sh33 million Range Rover in a deal gone bad.

The suspect was arrested after snatching the Range Rover from another dealer in an attempt to settle a pending debt.

He was presented before a Kibera Court on Monday, where magistrate Samson Temu allowed police to hold him for 14 days to complete investigations into his activities.

According to the miscellaneous application filed in court, police intend to charge him with the offences of theft and obtaining money by false pretence.

A complainant told police the suspect had expressed interest in the car, which was initially being offered at Sh34 million.

The complainant, identified as Rashid Mohamed, referred him to his sales manager on April 10 at Alvis Motors along Ngong Road, where he requested to be allowed to drive the car to show the client.

But the salesperson offered to accompany him to the said site where the buyer was waiting along Dennis Pritt Road.

Two attempts to locate the said interested buyer did not bear fruit

Come Friday, the suspect again said there was an interested buyer before they drove the luxury car to a restaurant along State House Road.

There, according to the complaint, the suspect managed to sneak out with the car and delivered it to Westlands, where an apparent client who had paid him Sh21 million was waiting.

This was as they had a chat and ordered food at the joint. The suspect, according to police, excused himself while on the phone and vanished.

The sales agent realised the car was missing from where they had parked it and rushed to Kilimani police station, where a report was made.

Police later traced the suspect to Runda and the car to a parking yard in Westlands, where it was picked up by the Kilimani police station pending probe.

Kilimani police commander Patricia Yegon said they are investigating the saga.

MAN ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY ACQUIRING LAND REGISTRATION THROUGH DECEITFUL MEANS

Laikipia detectives arrested a man suspected of being involved in acquiring land registration through deceitful means.

Upon his arrest, detectives recovered 135 title deeds, each bearing different names from various land registries, all of which were found in his car.

His vehicle was also detained, as it was linked to the illicit transactions involving fraudulently obtained land.

Meanwhile, the recovered title deeds were securely held as exhibits in the ongoing investigation.

POLICE ARREST ALLEGED DRUG TRAFFICKERS

A multi-agency team intercepted a long-haul truck and recovered a significant haul of cannabis sativa, netting four traffickers.

The operation, which played out on the busy Moyale-Isiolo highway, saw officers flag down a Mercedes-Benz Actros, driven by a 33-year-old man.

A search of the truck revealed gunny bags stuffed with tightly packed bales of cannabis, each bundle wrapped in yellowish cellotape and cunningly stashed within the truck’s chassis.

POLICE ARREST TWO FOLLOWING GUN DRAMA IN EASTLEIGH

Two people were arrested on Tuesday night following a gun drama incident in Nairobi’s Eastleigh area.

The two included a licensed gun holder and a guard at a shopping mall.

A four-wheel drive car belonging to the gun holder was pelted with stones and seriously damaged in the drama at about 8 pm.

Police said the fracas broke out along 12th Street, which is usually jammed with pedestrians, prompting the gun holder to shoot into the air three times to scare a mob that was baying for his blood.

This followed a disagreement between a security guard and a businessman who is a licensed gun holder.

The guard claimed the businessman was blocking the entrance to the mall, prompting a bitter confrontation.

This attracted a mob, which joined in confronting the hawker who had parked his car in the same area.

In the confusion, the licensed gun holder reached for his pistol as a mob dared him to shoot.

A video taken at the scene captured a mob shouting at him and daring him to shoot if the weapon was real.

He shot into the air three times, damaging a window pane of a nearby house and sending the mob on the run for their safety.

The gun holder also lost the magazine to his pistol in the drama.

Police arrest two men posing as female masseuses

Kasarani detectives on Thursday arrested two men accused of orchestrating an online con by posing as female masseuses offering professional services.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the suspects lured unsuspecting clients through online advertisements, promising relaxing massage experiences.

However, instead of a soothing session, victims were ambushed and robbed.

“In one case, a victim, perhaps expecting scented oils and soft spa music, was met with a far less relaxing surprise,” the DCI reported.

The victim told police he responded to the ad and visited a supposed spa residence along Lumumba Drive, Kasarani.

However, shortly after the session began, the two suspects allegedly drew knives and held him at knifepoint.

Under duress, the man was forced to transfer Sh280,000 to the suspects and was robbed of additional valuables before being thrown out.

Following the report, detectives launched investigations and, through forensic leads, traced and arrested the suspects at a chilling spot near Kamiti Prison.

The two are currently in custody and are undergoing processing, pending arraignment in court.
