Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah has urged Malindi residents to safeguard national unity and avoid destroying the country over political differences.

Speaking during an Economic Empowerment Programme at Jilore Grounds, Kilifi County, on July 4, 2025, Ichung’wah emphasised the importance of peace and national cohesion.

"I urge you to live in peace and unity as brothers and sisters in this God-given country. As President William Ruto said—Even if you do not like Kimani Ichung’wah, Governor Mung’aro, your MP, or any other leader—do not destroy your country because of a politician," he said.

Ichung’wah urged Kenyans to focus on initiatives that improve lives and not be swayed by leaders without development agendas.

"Leaders come and go, but the country remains. Let’s also guide our children not to fall for divisive politicians and instead prioritise actions that uplift Kenyans’ lives," he added.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, who was in the same event, urged Kenyans to be cautious of political figures attempting to exploit them.

He warned that the country’s political contest is now between development-driven leaders and a discredited lot of leaders bent on sowing division.

Kindiki said the broad-based government under President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga had placed the country firmly on the development path.

He called on Kenyans not to lose sight of the progress being made.

“We have united under the broad-based government. We are one team focused on development and taking Kenya forward. This is a team driven by Kazi Bila Break,” he said.

Kindiki criticised the opposing camp, claiming they were engaging in outdated politics centred on personalities and empty slogans.

“The other team is clueless. When asked what they plan to do for Kenyans, they say Kasongo one term, Ruto Must Go and other things. That cannot be a manifesto on how to lead Kenya. All of them have failed in their previous jobs,” he said.

He emphasised that the Kenya Kwanza administration is committed to equitable development across the country, unlike their opponents, who, he said, continue to pursue a discriminatory agenda.
