Last weekend, I stood at the entrance of a convention hall in Nairobi, bustling with heartwarming scenes.
Families, young people, and elderly ones streamed in with anticipation and joy for the opening weekend of the 2025 “Pure Worship!” regional convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
The atmosphere was electric with unity, peace, and spiritual refreshment. For many, it was a long-awaited moment of reconnection and renewal.
This spirit of hope and unity will continue major towns across Kenya including Nairobi, Kisumu, Nakuru, Machakos, Eldoret, and Mombasa, running through August 31, 2025
The three-day event promises to uplift, educate, and inspire communities from all walks of life. The event is free of charge and open to all.
The welcoming environment and thoughtful organization make it easy for first-time attendees to feel at home.
The theme “Pure Worship!” is more than a religious slogan. It’s a call to sincerity, to worship that is heartfelt and transformative. In a world where many are grappling with emotional, economic, and social pressures, this convention offers practical, Bible-based solutions that promote peace of mind, stronger families, and a deeper sense of purpose.
The programme is designed to help individuals reconnect with their spiritual identity and find clarity in a time of uncertainty.
The convention’s programme is designed to meet people where they are. Talks and interviews address real-life issues such as anxiety, family conflict, and personal loss.
One of the featured presentations focuses on the power of hope—how it can calm the heart and provide strength during difficult times.
Attendees hear firsthand experiences from individuals who have found peace and direction through Bible-based teachings.
A special feature is the continuation of the video series, The Good News According to Jesus.
Episodes 2 and 3 are being released during the convention, portraying key moments in Jesus’ early ministry—from his baptism and divine affirmation to his calling of the first disciples.
These dramatisations help viewers connect deeply with the life and message of Jesus in a visually engaging and spiritually meaningful way.
Another highlight is the baptism of new disciples, a joyful and moving celebration of personal commitment and spiritual growth. Last weekend’s baptism ceremony in Nairobi was especially touching, drawing tears and applause from the audience.
Many more such moments are expected in the weeks ahead. Beyond its spiritual focus, the convention brings a positive economic impact to host cities.
With more than 56,000 attendees anticipated nationwide, local businesses including hotels, restaurants, and transport services, are benefiting from the influx of visitors.
Jehovah’s Witnesses are known for their orderly and respectful gatherings, which often leave a lasting impression on host communities.
Local vendors have already expressed appreciation for the increased activity and the positive conduct of attendees.
Convention attendees will benefit from yet another technological innovation of Jehovah’s Witnesses—the JW Box, a tool designed to help people with limited internet access download online publications both for personal use and Christian meetings.
It functions as a local Wi-Fi hub, allowing users to connect with their phones or tablets and download materials without using mobile data.
The box is already offering a lifeline to spiritual and educational continuity in Kenya’s underserved regions by delivering learning materials.
Between July and August 2025, the tool is being used to download videos, and illustrated publications in local languages and full colour by the convention attendees.
Again, there are no charges for the downloads. This innovation complements Kenya's growing digital ambitions and shows how grassroots solutions can be used inclusively to empower localcommunities.
Jehovah’s Witnesses extend a warm invitation to all—regardless of background or belief—to attend the convention.
Whether you are seeking spiritual answers, emotional support, or simply a peaceful environment to reflect and learn, this event offers something meaningful for everyone.
If you will be among the thousands of attendees, the “Pure Worship!” convention will stand out as a reminder that even in challenging times, faith and community can light the way forward. -
