Social media personality Pritty Vishy opens up on cosmetic surgery journey and complications

Social media personality Purity Vishenwa, popularly known as Pritty Vishy, has shared on her YouTube channel, with snippets also posted on her Instagram stories, that she recently underwent multiple cosmetic procedures to alter her physical appearance.

In a video on her YouTube channel, Vishy revealed she had undergone a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), tummy tuck, and liposuction. She documented the entire process for her followers, including her post-surgery recovery.

While expressing joy at the results, Vishy also updated her fans on complications she experienced after the procedures. Parts of the video showed her in a hospital gown with bandages around her legs. After being discharged, she was later seen in a car on her way back to the hospital.

“Today is the second day since I left the hospital, and we have to go back since I feel uncomfortable in my tummy and it is swollen,” she said. Doctors diagnosed her with edema — the build-up of fluid in body tissues, commonly affecting the legs and feet.

Oedema can be a symptom of various conditions or a side effect of certain medications. Vishy was later filmed at home, preparing groceries while on a mattress, supporting herself on her knees.

“I cannot lie on my tummy or sit because I am in so much pain. Even laughing or coughing is an issue,” she said.

She noted that no one had fully prepared her for the recovery process, cautioning others to be mentally ready before undergoing similar procedures.

“The cosmetic surgery procedure is like just 20 per cent, the real battle comes in at the recovery process,” she said. “The massage part is another crazy thing.

I think people out here who have undergone the procedure fail to let us know the whole truth about it.”

What is a BBL

A BBL is a cosmetic procedure that enhances the shape and size of the buttocks, typically involving liposuction — the removal of fat from areas such as the abdomen, waist, back, or thighs. Unlike butt implants, a BBL uses the patient’s fat, often resulting in a more natural look.

However, it is considered high risk if not performed by an experienced, certified surgeon, with potential for serious complications.

Recovery from a BBL can take several weeks and often involves strict aftercare, including avoiding direct sitting on the buttocks for some time.

Liposuction, used to remove excess fat from specific areas to improve body contour, carries risks such as infection, uneven contour, skin rippling, and, in rare cases, severe complications.

It is commonly the first step in a BBL, with the extracted fat purified and injected into the buttocks.

A tummy tuck, another of Vishy’s procedures, flattens and firms the abdomen by removing excess skin and fat, often tightening weakened abdominal muscles. It is sometimes included in BBL packages as part of full-body contouring.

Vishy’s candid sharing of her experience comes amid growing public interest in cosmetic surgery and the realities of post-surgery recovery.
