Kenya Cup Caucus has given the KRU board a two-week ultimatum to sort out the issues of integrity and governance within their ranks.

Failure to do so will prompt the caucus to initiate a Special General Meeting (SGM) within three weeks.

Speaking on Tuesday, Nakuru RFC chairman, Aggrey Omiyo, believes those directors who have been adversely mentioned and those who have stayed beyond their term should resign.

"This wrangling and infighting that has been ongoing needs to end for the sport to thrive, and our call to them is that those mentioned should go," added Omiyo.

Omiyo said the allegations of forgery and misappropriation are painting the sport in a bad light and will not attract sponsors in the future if the issue is not dealt with decisively.

“ The sponsors are watching, and if this goes on, then we will be in a bad place in the months and years to come. I believe we will need a clean slate of leaders elected to restore the game's integrity,” noted Omiyo.

Last month, Moi University Arsonists, Ngong Warriors and Meru Rugby Club called for an inspection of the KRU's accounts and gave CEO Thomas Odundo until July 9 to have the books opened or face action.

Omiyo said at the last Annual General Meeting (AGM) in May, Impala, Nakuru and Nondies were in support of the embattled former chairman, Alexander Mutai, but were outnumbered by the Championship and Nationwide clubs.

“ It's a numbers game, and you saw what happened. The Mutai read the mood of the affiliates and resigned. Our numbers were not enough to salvage the situation.

Omiyo is confident the Kenya Cup clubs can build consensus with the rest of the teams to find a solution.

“I'm confident going forward, we will sit down with the championship and nationwide clubs and plan the way forward to sort the current mess,” added Omiyo.

The Kenya Cup caucus involves 12 teams, including champions Kabras, Menengai Oilers, KCB, Nondies, Quins, Blak Blad and Impala. Others are Strathmore Leos, Nakuru, Kisumu, Daystar and Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology.
