TV personality and influencer Robbie Lyle
The 53-year-old former journalist and ardent Arsenal supporter took to Instagram on Saturday, where he shared a Kenyan flag accompanied by the message, “Coming Soon.”
It followed a recent announcement of his upcoming trip to East Africa in a recent interview with Kenyan influencer Nana Owiti in Manchester.
Although the exact details of Lyle’s Kenyan visit remain unclear, it is widely expected to include a watch party involving a live Arsenal game he will host at a popular venue in Nairobi or Mombasa, similar to his past trips to Nigeria and Ghana.
European football, especially the English Premier League, enjoys massive popularity in Kenya, where young fans flock to pubs across the country to watch live matches.
These matchdays are often followed by spirited discussions and banter, especially on social media.
Lyle, who runs the AFTV YouTube channel, has spent over a decade cultivating a global brand and engaging millions of football fans daily.
His content spans everything from Arsenal’s performance in the Premier League and UEFA Champions League to transfer rumours.
One of the most popular segments on the AFTV channel features post-match fan chats outside the stadium, where passionate Arsenal supporters, often younger fans, share their views.
“I created this channel to give Arsenal fans a platform to voice their opinions on the team,” Lyle explained in a past interview.
Lyle’s post instantly sparked a wave of anticipation among his followers.
Some Kenyan fans suggested that he brings along the DR Sports team, an upcoming UK based online channel that mainly shares insights on European football.
Sports journalist Eric Njiru, a self-confessed Liverpool fan, jokingly commented that the visit was a perfect opportunity for Arsenal’s “deluded” supporters.
Arsenal has been drawn against 15-time European champions Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, with the two-legged tie scheduled for the second week of April.
Coached by Spaniard Mikel Arteta, the Gunners will host London rivals Chelsea in a Premier League clash this weekend.
