
Governor Julius Malombe when he released the names of his three nominees for Kitui top jobs during a press briefing on Wednesday/Musembi Nzengu
Kitui Governor Julius Malombe has nominated former South Eastern Kenya University Swahili lecturer Agnes Mulewa to the position of county secretary.
He submitted Mulewa’s name to the county assembly on Tuesday for vetting and possible confirmation.
Mulewa, who is currently serving as the chief officer in the office of the governor, was appointed to the position in 2018 by former Governor Charity Ngilu. She has also been acting as the county secretary
The governor also nominated Christopher Ombunya to the position of the secretary of the Public Service Board.
All three nominees will require approval from the county assembly following a vetting process before officially assuming office.

Mulewa was the top candidate among five individuals interviewed for the county secretary position by a selection committee appointed by the governor.
Alex Musembi, a scholar from Mwingi, ranked second. Other candidates were lawyer Muneeni Kimwele, chief officer in the office of the Deputy Governor Francisca Chui and Geoffrey Stella Mutanu.
Mulewa, Okumu and Muange received the highest scores in their respective categories.
Malombe said the nominations were based on merit. He said his decisions were guided by the rankings provided by the interviewing panel, noting that a total of 63 applications had been received across the three positions.
He further affirmed that the nominations adhered to constitutional values, highlighting meritocracy, inclusivity and equitable representation.
