Police in Embu have arrested five suspects and recovered stolen goods worth Sh5.4 million following a violent carjacking incident in Kirinyaga County.
The recovery was made during a multi-agency operation in Mutunduri, Embu North, after a tip-off from members of the public.
According to police, the goods were stolen when a company driver transporting the products was attacked in the Gathoge area by five armed men.
“Following a tip-off, we raided the Mutunduri area and recovered hundreds of boxes of toothpaste, toothbrushes, detergents, and fabric softeners,” police said in a statement.
Two vehicles believed to have been used to ferry the stolen goods were also impounded during the raid. The five suspects are in custody and are expected to be arraigned in court.
The National Police Service commended the swift coordination of officers involved in the operation and urged members of the public to continue sharing information to aid in the fight against crime.
