Detectives are investigating the murder of an 18-year-old woman in Mwiki, Nairobi. The mutilated body was found in her house on Thursday, hours after her death.
Police said the deceased, identified as Abigael Wanjiku, was killed in her mother’s house.
The body was found lying naked in a pool of blood, with five stab wounds in the stomach, a cut on the neck and a cut on the right ear.
Police said she had been assaulted and her skull was cracked at the forehead.
A pan used to hit her on the head was found in the house, as was a knife that is believed to have been used in the murder.
Wanjiku was alone at the time of the attack as her mother was at a kiosk she operates.
The deceased delivered food to her mother and went back to the house when the assailants struck.
The mother returned home at 11pm only to stumble on Wanjiku’s body.
Her killers and the motive of the murder are still unknown.
Following the murder, police on Friday violently dispersed a group of protestors who had blocked Mwiki-Kasarani road to demand the arrest of the killers.
A man was shot and killed during the protest in Kasarani, police said.
He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Locals said Joshua Nderitu was shot as police reacted to the chaos using live bullets.
The incident is under investigation.
