Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has shared about his retirement stating that he was enjoying it.
The former president stated that retirement was a good thing especially when one retires when they are strong.
"Maisha ya retirement ni mazuri sana, hauna responsibilities, unaangalia wale wengine kwa TV ... Walikuwa wanafikiria ukubwa ndio kazi, wengine naona wanajionea tayari," the former president said.
This loosely translates to: "Retirement life is good. No responsibilities, you just watch others on TV. They thought being a big person was work but I can see they are now seeing it for themselves."
The former President spoke on Sunday when he attended a Thanksgiving mass at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Meru County.
The mass was held to celebrate the recent installation of Bishop Jackson Murugara as the Coadjutor Bishop of Meru.
In congratulating the Bishop, Uhuru said; "We wish you the best, may you continue with the great work of spreading the gospel, as you continue healing souls, may you also help in giving this country direction."
"We must save souls but if you have no lives, you will have lost those souls. You as the church have a responsibility to ensure that our nation stays on the right path."
The former president was accompanied by former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya, former Meru Woman Representative Florence Kajuju, and former Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti.
The event brought together congregants to honor Bishop Murugara’s new role, following his appointment by the Vatican.
Before this position, Bishop Murugara served as the rector of the Consolata Shrine in Westlands, Nairobi.
