President William Ruto has said that as the President, he has only two important missions to fulfil.
Speaking on Sunday, Ruto said the first one is to unite the country, which he is not only constitutionally mandated to do but also biblically.
He cited the book of Psalm 133, saying that it is also the reason he decided to have a broad-based government, one that accommodates people from all regions and tribes.
The President insisted that he has a special opportunity to bring all Kenyans together, and he will stop at nothing to lead from the front line.
“By God's grace and by your votes, I only have two important missions; the first one is uniting all the people of our nation because unity is strength. This is a social opportunity, and I am going to lead from the front in making sure that we have a nation that is united. The Constitution of Kenya directs me to unite the country. This is why we have a broad-based government," Ruto said.
“It is not only constitutional for me as president to unite the people of Kenya, it is also biblical,” Ruto said.
The President spoke at the AIC Church Kibra, where he attended a service.
Ruto said his second assignment is the transformation of this country.
He noted that while it is not easy to transform the country, it is something that needs to be done.
The Head of State said transformation is desirable and that is why his administration is focused on improving agriculture to increase food production, changes in the education sector, and health, among others.
Ruto said it is the reason his administration has put focus on building modern markets across the country as well as the County Aggregation and Industrial Parks (CAIPs), among other initiatives.
“This is the time and the opportunity. By God's grace, the assignment God has given me for transformation will not delay any longer.
“Transformation is not easy, but it is necessary, it is desirable, it is what we must achieve. Let us work together,” the President said.
